Why the xbox one sucks

Probably not though. Say what? You mean I can't play the dozens of games that I've accumulated over eight years with the and use it on this new expensive console? There is absolutely no backwards compatibility and this is one of the biggest disappointments about the One so far.

I guess we'll just have to get used to never picking up those old games again. Microsoft Xbox Live vice president Marc Whitten had this to say about the shortcoming:. Look at it this way. Once you use a game on your console, you can't use it anywhere else. So when you go to your friend's crib and pop in the game, you're pretty much assed out.

Apparently you need to be signed into your user account to access your disc. Microsoft bitched us out on this one to assure that we keep buying their products. This is an example of technology working backwards to hurt us. It should be interesting to see if Sony decides to use this tactic in their new Playstation. The Xbox One is an internet-based console, meaning that some games will require internet just to play. It doesn't get much whacker than that.

While the reason for this is to free up the processor to handle more tasks on its own, why couldn't they just have found a better solution? Just like they did with the , Microsoft will be charging users to access online content. It's not like Playstation has been providing free service to their customers for years or anything. Online capabilities should be free, especially with that big price tag.

But once again Microsoft looks to bitch us and take some monthly cash to help power their servers. Just great. That's right. They're making yet another external piece, the motion-censored Kinect, a mandatory part of the Xbox One.

That means you won't be able to use it without it being plugged in. So what's the purpose of this madness? Xbox's UK marketing director Harvey Eagle gave us a reason why:. Essentially the Kinect will be acting as a traffic cop every time you plug in.

I didn't know Microsoft was playing big brother now. If you want something done right then do it yourself. I have owned nearly every gaming console dating back to atari and before that I had pinball machines. Did any console perform without fault? Cartridge games seemed the best but then disc could hold more data.

Did anyone have floppy disc games like me, because its a grind to get them to load back in the 90s. You might just be unlucky enough to have got a faulty console because that can sometimes happen. I've bought faulty goods and been frustrated, and its totally worse if the company says its not their liability. These days you have rights, not alot, but atleast you have some, and one of your rights is to return a faulty good if you purchased the electronical product with a hardware fault that makes the product not do what it claims it can do.

For example If you bought a faulty item then your grievance is with the person who sold you the item. That should be your first stop! And just to let you know that when I bought my XB1 the shop failed to include a controller, like seriously, just when you think all is great the world turds on you but life continues and there is better things to do anyway. At least you can turn your console on without Internet. If you want offline gameplay, Microsoft have Xbox just for you…. Oh hello there PC gaming with no requirements for Internet connection and ability to play games from the last century….

Yeah, current gen consoles are horrible. I said it somewhere else a few days ago but the thing about consoles should be that they just work. PS2 and Gamecube were the last real consoles in my mind. PS2 was the bomb. Had all the great weird games that I loved. Many an hour spent on that. Playstation went downhill after this. PS3 had far too many buggy games that crashed all the time, but it also had heaps of little games on the store that were fun. And that is what its about right?

But there is something to be said for just being able to sit on the couch and fire a game up and play it. Sure I even have a steam link and use it from time to time, but it is not a perfect solution.

It bugs out and not every game works with a controller. I hate my xbox. I really do. Its a buggy pile of garbage. It was a birthday gift but fuck me I wabt to burn the fucking thing. If all else fails there is always the reason that the dev teams will drop the edge case features first when release dates are looming and something needs to give.

Microsoft definitely dropped the requirement that xbone had to be online, but it was left up to the developers if they would allow a game to be played when offline.
