The ancient order is credited with developing mysticism, which alone earns them the best magic-centered guild in Skyrim. T he Dragonborn encounters several members of the Psijic Order during the College of Winterhold questline.
After the Eye of Magnus is safely removed from the College, it is revealed that the Order intended for the Dragonborn to become the Arch-Mage. However, Bethesda could have done so much more.
Imagine if, after working hard as the Arch-Mage, the Dragonborn were recruited by the Psijic Order after mastering a school of magic. The Dawnguard faction exist to kill vampires and to stop the faction led by Lord Harkon from blotting out the sun.
Joining the vampire hunters gives the Dragonborn access to Fort Dawnguard, where they will find master trainers skilled in Restoration, Smithing, Heavy Armor, and Archery. Players also gain access to 6 potential followers, including two adorable husky war dogs, and a multitude of spells particularly those targeting the undead , armor and weapons—the crossbow is especially useful.
It's also possible to hire Armored Trolls as temporary followers. The Volkihar Clan is a vampire faction led by Lord Harkon, the primary antagonist of the main questline. Harkon has no tolerance for vampires or mere mortals. Vampire Lords have their own skill tree with eleven available perks—including the ability to summon gargoyles or to fully restore their health by killing an enemy with a power bite attack.
Couple this with the Ring of the Beast grants user extra health points and increases claw damage by 20 , the Ring of Erudite grants user an additional magicka and speeds up magicka regeneration , and your Death Hound followers, and the Vampire Lord is nearly unstoppable. The Dragonborn also gets to call Castle Volkihar their home. Everyone knows the evil Thalmor faction are the real threat, but they are too preoccupied with each other to do anything about it.
It's the Thalmor who wished to eradicate the worship of Talos. It was also the Thalmor who captured Ulfric Stormcloak during the Great War and released him so that he could further divide the Empire.
In addition, the Thalmor are pretty cool and actually believable villains, which is why they rank high among the best Skyrim factions. Members get to wear stylish robes and, since they are high elves, spellcasting comes easily to them.
At the very least, it would be great for Altmer players to be able to be agents for the Dominion. They could lurk in the shadows, inciting incidents instead of seeking to resolve them. There are many guilds to seek out in Skyrim ; however, the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood are probably the two most sought-after.
The Thieves Guild is exactly what it sounds like: a guild of thieves. This guild is located underneath Riften, the city at the bottom right on the map of Tamriel, in a place called the Ragged Flagon. The guild is perfect for those role-playing as stealth-oriented characters who love to pickpocket and steal.
Two of these guild members, Delvin and Vex, will be the main crew members that give side quests in order for the player to restore the guild to what it once was. Delvin will give jobs involving forging business ledgers, stealing goods from a specific target, and stealing goods from specific Holds without being noticed or killing anybody.
Vex will give jobs that entail stealing from wealthier mansions, homes, and stores, as well as planting false evidence into homes of people the guild wants to get rid of. There are a variety of jobs to take under the Thieves Guild, but like any repeatable side-quests, they can get repetitive. Beyond the basics of what the Thieves Guild is about, the Dragonborn will also be thrust into the realm of lies and deception as they must uncover the mystery of bad luck that has befallen the guild in recent years.
Doing so will result in multiple new gear sets each with its own thief-based enchantments. Completing the storyline will also grant access to the sword, bow, and armor of the Nightingales. The Nightingale gear comes with unique enchantments that set them apart from the normal guild gear. With the Nightingale armor, the Dragonborn will receive a lot of boons to stats like lockpicking.
As for the weapons, the Nightingale sword is one of the most unique looking and best swords in the game with an enchantment to absorb health and stamina on every hit. Players will also receive the Nightingale bow, another good weapon on par with a Deadric bow. Only one role can be active at a time, but the choice need not be permanent; after waiting 24 hours, the Dragonborn may return to the Sepulcher and choose a different role.
Represented by a crescent moon, the Agent of Stealth gains the power " Shadowcloak of Nocturnal ". Entering Sneak mode renders the Dragonborn invisible for seconds. Like the invisibility spell and potions, the invisibility effect is dispelled as soon as the Dragonborn engages in an activity other than simple movement; this includes opening doors or containers, attacking NPCs, pickpocketing items, casting spells, or activating items.
Unlike potions or spell, however, this invisibility resumes if the Dragonborn re-enters sneak mode. Represented by a half moon, the Agent of Subterfuge gains the power " Nightingale Subterfuge ", which allows the Dragonborn to cloud the judgment of an NPC for 30 seconds, causing them to fight on the Dragonborn's side. This is similar to the Frenzy and Fury effects and spells but does not put the Dragonborn in any danger.
